Forest Walk & Birchbark Biting Presentation

<< Snowshoe Excursions

The Story of the Birch

Join us for a 3-hour adventure as we learn about its historical significance, cultural uses, medicinal benefits, and the Cree art of birchbark biting.  We will snowshoe through the boreal forest along the shore of Amisk Lake, then return to the warm lodge for hot chocolate and a chance to try your hand (or teeth) at birchbark biting. Our special guest is local Rocky Cree artist Kari Lentowicz of Acimostawin, who creates these art pieces and shares traditional practices and knowledge about the birch tree.
