Amisk Lake Fishing

Walleye and Northern Pike – the size, the fight, and the thrill are what keeps people coming back year after year. Just read the Catch and Release stats…. get ready to add your name to the list!

Amisk Lake is 430 sq kilometers (170 sq miles) and features over 500 islands and is fed and drained by the Sturgeon Weir River. Most of our fishermen fish the south end of the lake, between the South Weir which drains the lake and the West Weir, which feeds into the lake. There are three large bays on the south end of the lake, and three islands, close to the camp. The islands help to break the wind, allowing fishing on some bad weather days

Fishing Season

To qualify as a Master Angler, you must catch and release the fish.  To check out the registering lengths and further details, visit the  Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation.

Catch & Release Contest

Every season we run a Catch & Release Contest for northern pike and walleye. If you catch and release a Northern Pike over 29.5" and/or a Walleye over 21.5", take a measurement photo & a photo of you holding it, and bring it to the Lodge. The largest of each species at the end of open water season in October will win bragging rights, their name on the plaque in the lodge, and a custom engraved wooden photo frame for their fish photo.

In 2023, we started a Youth Category for our Catch & Release Contest!  All youth under the age of 16 will be eligible to enter this category for a chance to win bragging rights, their name on the plaque in the lodge, and a custom engraved wooden photo frame for their fish photo.

An extremely small percentage of fish eggs make it to the adult stage of development, and big fish produce an exponential proportion of eggs. In addition, these fish pass on the best genes and survival instincts, allowing the populations to maintain, and grow. Good fishery management practices have allowed for the fishing to thrive at Amisk Lake, and choosing to practice catch and release will ensure that future generations get to experience the thrill of the catch!
